Overview:

Jenny Holzer’s Artist Room was located at Tate Modern, London.

American artist Jenny Holzer’s exhibition bombards you with words. She makes words the focus of her work, trying to send a message and kindle conversation about real world issues, stating: ‘I chose language because I wanted to offer content that people – not necessarily art people – could understand.’ In her early career Holzer delivered her art on posters and t-shirts preferring to take her work to the streets rather than confine it to galleries. Her exhibition at The Tate showcases a wide range of her work taking on a variety of forms including posters, benches, projections, signs, plaques, paintings and textiles; her work focuses on themes such as power, patriarchy and war and offers up a multitude of interpretations.
